NORTH-EAST DISTRICT SENIOR GOLFERS’ ASSOCIATION
CONSTITUTION & RULES
Modified February 2022
1. The Society shall be named the North-East of Scotland Senior Golfer’s Association
2. The object of the Association shall be :-
(a) to promote good fellowship and friendly feeling between the senior golfers of this district
(b) to institute and thereafter carry through annually a championship meeting and such other competitions and matches as is considered appropriate
(c) to deal with any other matters of general or local interest to seniors golfers within the district
3. The business of the Association shall be conducted by a Committee consisting of the Captain, Vice-Captain and Secretary (who shall also have power to act as Treasurer) and three members to be elected.
a. Amended in 1985 to include the positions of President and Treasurer
4. The elected members of the Committee shall retire after one year’s service and shall be eligible for re-election.
5. A General Meeting of the Association shall be held annually at such time and place as the Committee shall determine.
6. At a meeting of the Committee, three shall form a quorum.
7. Members of the Association must have attained the age of 55 years and must be a Member of a Club affiliated to the North-East District of The Scottish Golf Union.
a. Amended in 2002 to introduce a limit of 15 Members from any one affiliated club in any one calendar year.
b. Amended in 2018 to the attained age of 60
c. Amended in 2021 back to the attained age of 55. To take effect in 2022
d. Amended in 2021 to a more practical limit of approximately 20 from any one Club in any one calendar year.
8. Election to Membership of the Association shall be at the discretion of the Committee.
9. The annual subscription shall be such sum as is decided upon by the members at the Annual General Meeting. The initial annual subscription being £1.00.
a. Amended in 1989 to an annual subscription of £10 in place of the £1.00 Green Fee
b. Amended in Nov 2021 to an annual subscription of £15. To take effect in 2022
c. Amended in Feb 2022 to an annual subscription of £20. To take effect in 2023
10. The Committee may at any time convene a Special General Meeting of the Association and shall do so upon receipt of a written request signed by no less than twenty (20) of its Members.
11. The Committee shall have the power to expel any Member whose conduct has been prejudicial to the interests of the Association, and that Member so expelled shall have no claims to any funds held by the Association. In this case, a two thirds majority of the Committee must agree on a decision.
12. The foregoing shall form the Constitution and Rules of the Association and shall not be altered or added to without the approval of two-thirds of those present and voting at the Annual General Meeting convened for this purpose. Notice of any proposed alterations or additions and the procedure with regard thereto shall be the same in all respects as in Rule 10 above
a. Amended in September 1989 to allow alterations or additions to The Constitution to be voted on and agreed by at least two-thirds of the voting Members present at any future Annual General Meeting.
